Hi guys, it’s been a while since I’ve been active on here, I’m glad everyone still here, I do have a question if anyone knows what led I can use to replace the vu meter light on my 7200 national .
The light works but it only illuminates one meter.
Please advise.

I have the RX7200. The VU meter light is on on the left side and light is not distributed well. LED combinations can be added and make it look nice but I left it alone. It is a very sophisticated boombox, even belt replacement is not easy on it. Nakamichi 482 cassette deck VU is also like that with the bulb on one side.

Is there an acrylic plate on top of the VU meter dial?

I think, there is an acrylic plate, from this photo found online.

If so, fit two SMD LEDs at the both edges of the acrylic plate, perpendicular to the plate.

Please see what can be done to the Dial of an RX-7000, which I did in 2012, 14 years ago.
The whole Tuner dial is illuminated with just one LED and just another LED is used for the VU meter.

The same effect could be given to RX-7200 VU meter.

It looks really good, I noticed both 7000 and 7200 have very poor lighting, a long time ago someone here was making led kits , I think for the m70,
where there any made for these Panasonics ?

Superduper made those for M70. 7000 has very decent lighting, I can't complain.

Since 7200 is not that popular like JVC M70, he might have not attempted making those LED upgrades.

RX-7000 doesn't need any kit, since there is a dedicated on-off switch for the dial light.
Simply replace the filament lamp with a LED strip segment or LED+Resistor combo matching with the voltage (12V to 15V).
I am not sure about RX-7200.

Here is my way of fitting LED in an M70.

It will also give you an idea, how to fix the LED strip on to the acrylic plate in front of the dial. Just one segment of a 12V strip with 3 SMD LEDs (only one LED is fully exposed and the other two are masked with an opaque white filter) is used to light the entire dial from one edge. And I managed to fix the whole thing with just one soldering and not any glue for fixing.
