Ridiculous

I know that there’s quality differences among turntables and certain factors such as the type of drive, weight of the platter, etc can result in measurable differences in sound quality and stability. But if there ever was a point of diminishing returns, this thing eclipsed it long ago. It’s passed the point of ridiculousness.

I always found these towers extremely fugly, I have seen pictures of them with marble and what not.

On a documentary about todays production of Dual – the real Dual in Germany, not one of those licensing companies – the technician said that you can buy the best sounding turntable for about 300 Euros. Everything above that is possible but not necessary.

Bear in mind that vinyl isn't even an audiphile media, it has so many flaws. And most people love it for those flaws, at least the ones I know. Vinyl is easy to love and to enjoy and maybe that's why such record players exist – for people who can't stand taking things lightly and having a good time. :-D

That tech in the documentary is full of ****. Vinyl is an audiophile media (every media has flaws) for sure, just got to be able to recognise good mastering/engineering/pressing, just like CD or any produced online music. I used to be one of those people who claimed $300 for a TT is all you need, until I got older and moved up in the hobby. Was it enjoyable and fun back then, yep. Would I go back, nope. I've heard the best of my pinnacle affordability and it's levels above where I was, sound-wise.

Onto the OP's posted table. If you own this you probably own another 1/2 million or more in equipment. Hell you could be 70 yrs old with **** ears (which almost everyone at that age has, sorry) and can't really hear the difference anyway, but I bet that person enjoys his hobby. If you own a suitcase TT or something miles above, just enjoy the music and look forward to better stuff in the future (if that's your jam).

I'll give you that high quality masters and pressings might suit for audiophiles even if this doesn't count for the vast mayority of records. And sure this turntable will sound better than most record players I accumulated. My point was more that from a certain – reasonable priced – point on, you can throw money at this hobby all you want, the benefit becomes more and more disproportionate. We are talking about an $180.000 TT here. I should have communicated that clearer.
