I wonder what this will end up at? Looks in fairly rough shape but I think it could look good with a bit of care and restoration.

The prices are crazy, I picked up an M70 last week on ebay for £420 and I think I did well!

Right now it's just over $800 with a little over 3 days left.
It's missing a chrome trim piece, has a nice crack on the top corner, the metal trim near the power button is rippled, it needs both antennas, it looks like it has "flash" scratched into it along with the other things listed.
I saved it in my watch list, it'll be interesting to see if it goes much higher.

It's not going to be easy to source the chrome strip or the metal panel around the power button .
As far as the crack in the corner it's not that bad and could be repaired and the top re painted .
The m90s I've had eventually had issues with the function switches causing sound to not come through on both speakers unless you fiddle with it until the sound comes through both sides so it might be an easy fix . I don't think I could lay out that kind of money for this one because of the missing Chrome trim. I know how hard it is to find a replacement. These side chrome strips are easy to tear off or break . I cracked one just cleaning the box . I was wiping the box down and a piece off fuzz from the rag snagged the bottom corner of the chrome strip and started pulling the strip off . it cracked it pretty good . I just wanted to lay down and die after it happened.

only working out of one speaker- can be due to several problems.
cassette door doesn't open- we can understand.

The trim over the dial is not original.

Same here. I couldn't do my collection all over again today if I had to....even if they were broke. The ones in top shape are coveted by collectors and aren't normally out there much.
True, many boomboxes used to be all over eBay. Back then, japan only boomboxes could not be found unless you were willing to do that proxy thing. Today, there are often more Japan Domestic offerings on eBay for certain boomboxes such as the M70, direct from Japan, than there are non-japanese variants... how crazy is that? Also, you used to be able to find almost every collectible out there. Many don't pop up anymore with years elapsing between offerings.

I absolutely have to have one but I don't think it's ever happening. I keep having a dream where I find one pristine at the car boot for 50 quid haha
I agree . that's why I can't walk by a trash pile or a thrift store because I've had this happen . the first vz 2000 I bought came from a pawn shop and I had to carry it about 300 feet to my car which was parked on the street . it about killed me but the looks I got lugging that beast was worth it lol.

Oh we’ve all had that dream lol. Just trash at car boots usually tho I did find a mint JVC RC828 for £15 once. My only good car boot find. I did get a JVC RC M70 off FB for £50 once too. My M90 I got in a trade for a C100 I blagged on an eBay buy it now with crap pictures and no details but it cost me £400 shipped. Figured I’d take a gamble and for once it paid off, it was far better than it looked in the listing. So basically I got my M90 for £400

Great trade but I'd struggle to give up a C100 too!
