So finally you replased Aiwa with Roxel Camden.
Does it work well? What are your impressions?
What color will you paint it?

"The boombox offers excellent value for money. The tuner and Dab works exceptionally well, even in locations where other radios have failed. The look is great, and everything about it is fantastic. The new display is beautiful, and the cassette function works perfectly. I've tested it with retro , JVC, and Sharp, and I couldn't notice any difference in sound quality. The CD player operates as it should, and there's also an extra bass feature. Overall, it's a great product—a fun little gadget that lives up to its promises. The sound quality is decent, so don't expect high-fidelity music sound, especially since that would cost nearly ten times as much. The all-black design is truly attractive. It would be nice if the speakers could be upgraded to something better, as there is enough space for improvement."

Congratulations on your purchase.
This version is all black, without any details. It seems a bit gloomy to me.

Been rocking mine out today. The only thing I did today was adjust the cassette motor speed. Got it dialed in very well for me.

I was just coming on here to say that it's nice to have a decent sounding modern boombox that you can crank without the hassle of stressing a vintage model.

I have heard a few that have had issues with CD skipping or cassette issues. Mine had a minor blemish on one of the speaker trim rings but, other than that (knock on wood) I have yet to have an issue.

I'm curious to know what the issue was as well.

The VU issue mainly and I don't know why but I just didn't love it. It takes a lot of room in my office and I'd rather have something I loved taking that much room. Thought about a replacement but ended up taking the refund. I may revisit one day.

beansmaynard, I understand your reasoning.
At least you had the chance to test it and return it.
I guess Amazon will soon put it back on sale as "opened" and at a lower price.
Then someone else will take advantage of this offer.

I will say that it's a fantastic modern boombox. Feel like it's not getting the love it deserves online. I think people have been burned with the GPO and IONs which are nowhere near as good as this thing.

Sitting here listening to mine right now. Months into ownership and I still use it daily! I LOVE this BBX.

Only a few minor issues. Cassette player was briefly making a mechanical clicking noise when first purchased, it has since resolved itself - no more clicking. Also noticed a couple weeks ago a tiny dent in the lower left speaker. Looked back at unboxing pics and it arrived that way. That tiny
dent wrecked me for the better part of a day. I’m sort-of past it now. May try to get a dental pic and gently pull it out.

I can’t believe how much I love this boombox. A few days ago, I bought a really high-end Tivoli SongBook Max. A fantastic modern boombox. Twice the price of the Aiwa and twice the sound quality…but for some weird reason, I love the Aiwa more!

I have been listening to my smaller vintage radios but recently decided it was time to come back to my Aiwa Backtrack this evening. The sheer power this thing lays down is truly impressive. It certainly outperforms most all of my vintage models. I hate to admit that a Chinese product can do that but I guess it shouldn't be any surprise with 40 years worth of innovation.

I am just going to say it. I don't think the C100 or the M90 can beat this thing in quality sound output. They may go louder overall but the bass has more punch on the aiwa than either and the Treble is equal to the M90 and better than the C100. The M90 has nice warm bass in the house but the Aiwa beats the M90 in lower frequency and punch. Maybe being ported helps.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not trading any of those vintage models for one of these. I'm sure these Chinese models aren't going to be around 40 years from now like those quality radios. Not to be depressing but, most of us won't likely be around either in 40 years so all this thing needs to do is run for 20 or 30 years to outlast me. Their cassette deck certainly isn't anywhere as good as our vintage counterparts but this box has got to be the best sounding modern boombox I have purchased. Those tweeters are out right crisp and detailed. Love the punch this has and the bass.

I really enjoy mine.

I would echo every word you said. Truth is - this is an exceptional sounding BBX that outperforms most vintage units. There. I said it. LOL.
The only weak spot is the recording quality of the tape deck. As for playback, I find the audio quality quite good…in fact, just as good and sometimes better than my vintage radios.

Here’s the thing - I am not a brand (or era) loyalist. Not for cars, radios, or anything else. I judge a product on its own merits. The Aiwa is a GREAT product. Authentic vintage aesthetic, solid build quality, exceptionally good sound. For the past several months it’s been my daily driver. The best part is - I don't feel like I’m on borrowed time every time I turn it on. I can’t escape that feeling when I’m listening to vintage. Don’t get me wrong - I passionately love my vintage units but the Aiwa provides me with worry free use and I love that.
Online, people feel the need to pick this radio part and try to prove that it’s somehow “less” than a proper vintage radio. It makes me wonder if they are missing the point. 40 years on, audio technology, materials, and manufacturing methods have advanced. The Aiwa is the perfect mediator between the past and the present.
