Just picked up an old Panasonic RX-ED50 from a charity shop, plugged it in and placed an old tape inside - no idea if the tape was in good condition;
now the tape seems to be stuck, it wont play, it wont eject, everything else works - cd and radio - but neither tape lids(?) seem to be opening up, super new to tapes as I'm a CD nerd this so all help is greatly appreciated!!

thanks in advance,
Addie

I don't know this model but I had Panasonic RX boxes with similar looking tape doors where the eject mechanism uses a belt, too. You need to disassemble the unit and replace all belts I am afraid.

The service manual doesn't seem to show a belt for the door, but there are four belts inside, which may be a puddle of goo at this point.
