Starting out 2024 here with tons of snow and frigid temperatures. I know many if not most of us are all collected out, or are much more selective these days.

Still, it would be interesting to share what was your best or most memorable score as you reflect on the past year, for 2023? For me, it was this guy, just a carry case really, but it was something I had wanted for decades. Extremely hard to find.

Kenwood DC-20 compo carry case.

Aiwa CS-85X....a real tank, at only 1 pound lighter than a CS-880.
JDM-only, with lots of features including autoreverse and an air-fan damped cassette door.

interesting, that’s the same damper setup as the cs-880, I don’t like it because the cord snaps, mine did. Is that deck mechanism like the tpr-990?

My most exciting score of 2023 came in two parts. I saw this Hitachi CP-90 on ebay and put in a bid before i really knew much about it.

Maybe I paid too much? It is in very poor condition, but I'm fascinated by it. The cassette recorder is in bits in the bag there. I realised it might be beyond fixing.

Then, not long after, I scored this.

I think it was meant to be. So I'm gonna devote as much time as i can to cleaning it up this year and see how much i can learn about restoring this cool bit of kit.

Unfortunately no blaster scores in 2023, but we did become commercial property owners! 72' diameter monolithic dome and 60'x80' shop on 2.22 acres. We found a company to lease the 60x80 building and we use the dome to hang out, use the in ground lift to work on cars/trucks, and store a few things. The kids like to take the 50cc dirt bike around the property for a rip!

It probably is, yeah. Lots of cheesy gears everywhere.

My SANYO X720K. It is in like new condition now but arrived with a broken power supply (damaged in shipment).
Our Tech Guru here Norm (Superduper) made a new power supply for it that is even better than the original it had.
Thanks again to Norm!
Eric (caution) was also behind the scenes to make the PC board for it. Thanks to caution!

The other one was priceless radio that I wanted for years. It is a Philips B7X44A03 stereo tube radio with piano finish new out of the box condition from Netherlands.

My most memorable score was getting to know a few more people on this site. No new radios last year. But I continue to enjoy keeping what I have alive ;-)

I did get my radios off the floor though and now have shelves :-)

I plan to spend more of 2024 in my 80's room with a beverage.
