Hello from Brisbane Aust

I was checking out the New Wave Toys M90 Mini, and then I thought of my old HITACHI TRK- 8610AU.
So, I did a web search and found Boomboxery forums, how cool, took me straight back to the 80's.

Here's the only pic I have of her, back in my room at college in 1982. I think my brother still has it, but it's a long way from her glory days, I don't think it has the cassette player in it anymore.

I love this model Boombox. it's an awesome looking machine.

hitachi trk 8600, boombox , ghettoblaster, working, new belts | eBay

Fully working with new belts. aerial is intact and original. will be retested before sending out, and sent with parcel force 48. has age related marks and ware ,see pics.

it’s a similar model but not the same; the 8610 has led VU meters, quite a bit rarer. I’ve been looking for one for a long time.

my bad, i confess never heard of that one Norm...it would look better with led imho as I'm not a fan of the vu really

yes now i can see it properly that one looks much nicer

I picked up a couple of radio cassette players for restoration. SANYO M9990K and Hitachi TRK-8610AU. I had the same model Hitachi back in the 80's. Can't wait to fix them up.

I got my old Hitachi TRK 8610AU back from my brother, unfortunately it doesn't have the cassette player in it anymore.

I'm going to restore the Hitachi TRK 8610AU I brought off ebay instead.



There was a bag of parts in the battery compartment, I guess I was trying to fix the cassette player.

Congrats on finding another one in what looks to be pretty good shape.
Your old one can serve as a parts box or reference if you run into trouble during your restoration.
