Aux works, but no vu action. Radio no sound

Hi gents. Picked up a 975. Looks good. Powers up. Aux works but no vu action. Radio dial light is not yellow and no sound. Cassettes both work shockingly but also no sound. Any advice on specific areas to look at besides basic cleaning of switches.

Plug Headphones in/out 20 times. Press REC and Play 30 times.

Tried that. No difference. That never seems to work for me lol

Does aux work with sound, then it maybe the mode switch.
