my first band blazed a pretty crazy trail in Vancouver . Ten years after the demise the impact of it seemed to have faded . I was chanel surfing a while back and caught a glimpse of this band and was instantly drawn to its 80s dark new wave sound. The synth sounds were quite familiar and the drumming just really caught me. I really felt some kind of connection to this band out of the gate. I really love the way the bass player uses the bass more like a lead instrument as well. I had to get in contact with them. Turned out they were Alunared fans. I also was not surprised to learn the synth they used was one I sold that I had programmed . I became pretty fast friends with the blonde playing the bass on the track. These kids making music with garbage gear no funds and little hope of ever seeing a dime for their work really earned my respect. While they do have a 80s vibe there's more going on. Today I hung with Vanessa and viktor. We spent sometime discussing future projects and I showed them almost all my synths . They ate and after dinner I gave them a bunch of synths and a Panasonic rxdt707 . I have two so why not. I was able to give them two analog synths for free and seeing as how Vanessa had been listening to her cellphone as her only music source I am sure she will enjoy the blaster. I always love to give to people who cannot afford much.a styleophone went home with them as well.im going to work on a track with them in the near future as well. Here's some live clips from the tv appearance I caught them on a while back.

A lot of bands say they have a retro sound but these guys really pull it off. It was pretty cool the night I first saw them on tv checking out the newmusic Canada account and seeing they were fans of what I had done in the past. You never know who listens and what they draw from it..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYelYxyvUis.

Those kids are awesome. I really hope they can see some success because they deserve it!

I always like the stories about people who battle adversity. The bass player in this band broke her back and spent almost a full year in rehabilitation. She wiped out snow boarding in a remote area and had to wait in the freezing cold for hours to get help.

These guys had talked about releasing a casette a while back. As with many things tho it all fell through.

LOVE this!! Petroleum Byproduct are amazing!! Will chase down their gear! Thanks for the great story, Bill!

If you, Bill, or anyone else is looking to releasing on cassette there's a label in NY still doing it regularly.
http://beerontherug.tumblr.com/ is their site, I can HIGHLY recommend the Laserdisc Visions and Napolian tapes.

Rock On.

Wow, they really NAIL the 80's New Wave sound!

You are right Bill, many people claim to be retro, but they have it down, all the way to their look.

Plus the Host of the TV show has a kick arse beard!

Oh, and the girls are cute! :w00t:

That show is really pretty cool. It usually revolves around playing old and new records. Really a treasure trove of great stuff he plays.

These guys are great. Do they ever make it down to Seattle? Back in the day, lots of bands would come down for gigs.

Sound kinda Post Punk, like Joy Division or maybe New Order, to be more precise.

I'd pay to see this band.

They have done shows in that area. They are severely limited in funds so it's rare for them to tour.
