Would it be safe to spray-paint a tweeter?

I'm talking a standard 2-inch paper dome tweeter. I know plenty of you guys paint woofers and seem to have good luck with it, but would painting a tweeter hurt the highs?

So bleach it instead? It's supposed to be white, but it turned yellowish

(and so did the woofer, of course  )

I have heard people bleaching with good results. Also, if coloring is necessary, probably better to dissolve stain (coloring agent) in alcohol and paint. The alcohol evaporates quickly leaving behind only the stain.

I first learned about bleaching woofers over at S2G years ago. It actually does work if you are really patient and careful. However, the stains on my speakers eventually came back and I decided to lightly paint them instead of bleaching them again.

Trouble with mine is, it's not individual stains, it's yellowing across the whole speaker

In my opinion....I have painted quite a few speakers and I really could not hear a difference...shure if you put big globs of heavy spray you will definitly screw up the speaker ...I'm really not a big fan of painting any speaker for that matter...but when they really look sh@#$... it doesn't really leave you with much choice if you want that new look...so if you really have to use extremly thin coat just enough to color because once they are behind the grill you really wont see minor imperfections...
