and a few comments// suggestions ?? :-)

so ...we have threads re box size // box bass// box volumes// box prices // box AKAs//, box features// box mods etc etc
do we ever talk about the quality of the high end sounds --

to name a few good ones --
there is the aiwa 950 , the big ben , the s90, the ribbon tweets on the CK11 .
.but to me -- the all-time // all word king of
high end is the m90 --
like its in wide mode ....and it has no wide setting or ambience type controls :-O

seems all alone & untouchable to me --

any other boxes or opinions

I think the BigBen can sound brighter and more detailled than an M90, depending on the music you're listening to.

To me the Telefunken Studio or 1M murders everything I've ever heard as far as sound quality. :stereo:
And it has no loudness or wide settings. ;-)
Just good ol Bass and treble........

IMO the M90 is a bit harsh, ditto the Telefunken. The treble is just too full on, reminds me of a bit of a pair of 70s/80s American speakers!

The Big Ben sounds awesome with any music! Never harsh, detailed, smooth bass. I also liked the treble/mid balance of the Pioneer CK-5F, it doesn't need tweeters, balance is perfect as is.

This is so subjective.

I Am Legend
true -- the m90 tweets may sound a bit sharp ( harsh ) --
but so far -- its the only box mentioned that puts out a surprising/shocking " HOLY SHITTE" multidirectional high end = really thrilling :-O

any others ?

Yes the Telefunken can be too harsh, but you can always turn the treble down. Unlike most boxes that force you to leave Treble on max and you still don't have enough.

Same goes with today's so-called "home theather in a box" systems at Best Buy.....All they do is provide a ton of muddled bass, because that's all it takes to impress teenagers and college students.

For me - the best sound is from all boomers with passive radiators. For my type of music they kill all easy. All others dont have enough low bass. But i suppose here comes the hearing of any individually. Was DJ ing many years and been in a lot of studios too and if i should be honest the only sound which i loved on boomers are Ralf's Aiwa 880 , my SX 1000 :-P and believe it or not next will be the Hitachi 9140 and Telefunken. And please dont kill me - i dont like the M90 sound. Its kind of so flat and boring to me. But all this is probably because i spent most of my life around PA speakers ( actually often around studio speakers too :-P ). Still never got luck to hear Big ben in live ( and i hope for good preserved unit) , but i have the feeling that will love it too . This bass chamber plays a big role sure, and Sanyo's have so balanced sound anyway so im sure about Big ben....

I have to say my Pioneer SK-750 has beautiful sound and a home stereo
like tuner with no hiss and tremendous pick up! :-O
It can get scary loud but you have to turn the bass down a bit-these
have so much bass I'm afraid I could throw the cones!!!! :-O :-O
Great deck, just I don't think the best at treble, better at bass.
Now I'd love to hear and get a 909! I bet that would compete with
said grails! :-) :surf:

With bass and separation like Ira said-M-90 all the way!!!! :surf:
777's are so nice for loud r&b and rock! They can be so adjusted so
they get really frikkin loud and I love the treble.
I know the Conion is super loud and very cool but don't have one yet,
I do have the M-90,and 777's,and 767.
Good comparo Ira! :-)
