So a few months back my 11 year-old son came to me and said he wanted a boombox. I let him go in my office and pick out whatever radio he wanted. He picked out my RX-5050 and I gave him a RCA plug so he could play the music from his phone. He played the boomer when he got ready for school, when friends came over, and when he went in the basement to play video games.

Last week I come home and the box was back in my office and my wife had bought him a wireless Sony little speaker pill thing.

The wife said he kept bumping the box up against the furniture and making dents and she couldn’t take it-lol. So now he’s been “poisoned” and I don’t know if me and the boomers will ever get him back.

The conspiracy against me and my boomers never stops-lol

My wife prefers sound over convenience. Not only is there now one always attached to the computer (she has to have her Spotify,) she's got them in the bedrooms, too!

Nothing like having a Kaboom next to the bed... Ravel's Bolero never sounded so good.

Luckily my wife has been paying attention only to their size yet.
She doesn't have an idea of how much they may cost - that's good. :-)

She might even think that I get some money for cleaning up Japan from this 30 years
"rubbish" lol.

Oh boy. Pretty soon your boy is going to cut a slot in a SOLO cup. Destroy that pill speaker NOW!!! Before it's too late and he says "it sounds good."

My main worry is that either or both of the women in my life (Sis-in-law beast and the other half) sell my collection - once I've done with living - for what I told them I paid for it! I always take a bit off if they ask how much and funnily enough, I do the same when they ask what I sold a radio for. :-D

Yes! And fit some of these corner protectors - like you see on flight cases - to the Panasonic if the Mrs is still that worried about some scuffs to the settee, wallpaper or kitchen cabinets. Kids will always find new ways to damage furnishings, it's their job so take control and give the boy some decent means of hearing his music in a oner.

My wife had that 'chip' taken off her shoulder about how much money I have spent on a single boomer after she saw how much they charge for those little sound boxes they sell now days.

. Good one! Hahahaha. My wife always ask me How many boomboxes you need to listen to music? She says I have some problem because I have more than 100 boomboxes alone along with the long list of other items in collection.

she's just a little uptight because when I find a box I like I will buy it and when I find something I like for my bike I will buy it.... even if I don't have the money ... LOL.0217152022.jpg0217152022.jpg

2 things. I wouldn't mind having a cell phone when I was 11 years of age!
Also, be glad he at least enjoys playing music on some kind of device.. I know at least one person who doesn't even really listen to music..? They might as well be dead!

I avoid discussing dollar amounts with the wife! lol She looked at my CF100 and said, "I'm afraid to ask how much that one cost." lol However, one thing that I do have to watch is that she truly hates how much time I will spend on working on them. So usually I wait till she leaves for wake up early. lol This is the main reason I have a 20/20 still not put back together! lol I add like 2 screws a day! lol

I forget, John. Was that the slow-motion scene at the beach? Oh, and what's a slapper? Urban Dictionary says it's "a loose woman who needs to be screwed back together."

I know exactly what you mean. "I'll be there in a minute, honey. Just as soon as I find a good place to stop..."
Then, an hour and a half later...

I can laugh because I just got my Big Ben up and running at 4:00am this morning! ;-)

My girl is good with me. I have a bose wave in the kitchen for her, a lasonic (newer bluetooth model) in bedroom for her. VZ3500 in closet (converted bedroom) for her. The M70 cinco de boomer in the craft room for her. All my goodies are in the garage for me. I also pull out a 6400 for the screen room for her as she sits on the couch during nice days :hooray:

I was thinking of the scene where she first tried to get the short one out of Pete 'n' Dud interested in the Bolero as a "timing tool", but not the useful kind with the strobe attached. She's talking to him as they're both sat on a settee then she gets up and wanders over to a radiogram, drops the lid and starts the record.

Urban Dictionary, bless 'em! I couldn't have thought of a better way to put it. Not one suitable for a family forum at any rate.
