While looking on ebay you get to see what is in your country and or you can go world wide

so it got me thinking : who/ what country has the best boxes ?

Uk has some nice ones but a lot of crap as well that fills up ebay
US has some big grails turn up but also go for big money + shipping can kill a deal as it is way high
Germany has a good selection of big boxes and also ship to the uk at a normal price
Japan seems to have some good one's but as they collect big grails they are always high in price

so you get my drift - there seem to be come countries that have better boxes and offer better deals on price and shipping

now discus on what you think is the best country for selling boxes

I know there will be different view cos of where you live - so take into account where you are from and what type of box you like and then the price of shipping cost - so you can answer in two parts if wanted

cheers B

I think as a whole Japan has some of the best condition grails. They are definitely more expensive in the US because we have more expendable cash and we just shop more than any other country. I would love to take my US salary and move to Japan or the UK...I would be a very rich man. Even at the current prices collecting boomboxes is an inexpensive hobby compared to my other hobbies. So my vote goes to the US due to a majority of boomboxes were sold here and are still available for that reason. The US gets bonus points because we have Norm to keep them running like new...or better than new... :-D

This is different for everyone of course, but for my tastes I have to go with Japan and U.S.

The Australian market is ok, but there are waaayy too many holes in what was sold here in the 70s and 80s in regards to manufacturers and models.
All the high end JVC's, Panasonics and Toshiba's weren't ever sold here so the chances of getting one locally is insanely slim.

Conversely .au has the worlds largest deposits of VZ-2000's and JC-2000's ironically.

My tastes are for the big flashy onepiecers, the RISINGS, Prosonics, Intersounds, Lasonics, Conions and such.
Sure I love a lot of the classic Sharps, Toshibas, Sanyos and such. But the true ghettoblasters are the radios I hold dearest and deem most desirable.

I say Japan also because it seems for every western model of classic radios theres a cooler .jp model with more rockin features or colour ways.

Rock On.

Your prices are cheap because no one will buy them. Shipping charges from your country are ridiculous. And people think UK shipping is high!

I can tell you that Au has some very fertile hunting grounds and very good wild finds on a regular basis.

As mentioned before ebay.au is also full of VZ-2000 & 3000 and we have the most disco robos of any place. The problem over here is postage, Aza sells very nice boxes on ebay and nobody (ebayers) want to pay for the postage from west to east (don't forget how big Australia is), this has led to the east cost boxes selling for higher prices than the same from the west coast.

Our prices are all over the shop too, $1100 for a VZ2000 one week $200 the next, $1250 for a red robo one week $500 the next. Au ebay sellers generally can't pack anything properly either.

All this means ebay.au sucks  but our wild finds
