Hi everybody! I would like to purchase a boombox and I do not know what to choose. Unfortunately I can't buy from ebay because I don't have a credit card and I will have to buy only from my country. In our country we have a similar site to ebay and I found some interesting boombox models but I don't know wich is better to choose. I post pictures with these models.

- Crown CS-300 L - 134 euro
- Tec 866RR - 112 euro
- Sharp WQ-T525H - 62 euro
- Tec 4040 - 107 euro
- PANASONIC Rx-Ds05 COBRA - 61 euro
- WILCO CRS 1047L - 123 euro
- Watson RR-5640 - 51 euro
- Lenco lw 599 - 101 euro

All are in good to very good condition. If you have any further recommendations please specify. Thanks

- Sharp GF 555 - 83 euro
- Universum Super Sound 16000 - 84 euro
- SHARP GF-6565 - 50 euro
- LOEWE RS 2000 - 90 euro
- JVC dp 100 - 56 euro
- ISP unknown model - 107 euro

Thank you all. I'm not rushing to buy it, I want to make the best choice in appearance, sound and price. I would like to avoid cheap chinese models with disco lights that flooded the market in the 90s (at least in my country, for example Mekosonic, Pavasonic) those with thin plastic-metal mechanisms.

Currently I have a boombox made in the USSR Oreanda RM-203c

The Lenco and the Crown are way above the others in quality.

The Crown will be lovely and sound nice but that Lenco has a classic look that is awesome. The Wilco would be a solid buy tho to....

Oh that USSR Oreanda is sweet!!!

In that second list the Universum Supersound 1600 is a very very good box, great sound and build. The Kaboom will have bags of bass but look like a stubby plastic turd, albeit with great sound. The ISP has a nice look but i've not heard one.

Yep the Universum is a good one. The DP100 will sound the nuts, I've got 2 DP200's and they're awesome...look like crap but mega bass

There are at least 5 there that I would take.
The Crown, Lenco, Wilco, the Russian ones are great.
The Tecs as well.

I'd leave all of the Sharps but Sharps are easy to find anywhere. The others look interesting

I did not know that in your country are so hard to find.

Does anyone know what kind of mechanism has Lenco? It is a sustainable mechanism or that of one of the cheap stereos?

The two Universums you posted are the best sounding boxes in this thread. Followed by the Lenco (but its build quality is low).

Greetings and welcome. If I was you I'd get the Panasonic rx-5500LS. They are outstanding model very well built and solid. High quality tape deck with metal tape heads. Great frequency response on metal tapes. I believe this unit puts out 7.5 watts RMS per channel.Panasonic tuners of this era also pick up FM stereo broadcasts great, in most cases you don't even have to put up the antenna. Also they are relively easy to work on as the front comes off and everything is right there in front of you. Most of the wires are plugged in as opposed to soldered. That makes life easy when you need to remove the deck to put in new belts. You just can't go wrong with Panasonic(National).
