Since many of us, it seems, are into cars, and all of us (presumably) are into audio, it occurs to me that this might be a fruitful discussion topic here :-) .

As for me, I spend a lot of time on the road every day, and I can't live without music, news, and traffic conditions, but my car radio no longer works very well (cassette broken; FM radio works, sort of, but the LED display is gone, so I have to find stations by ear  ). So, I rarely go anywhere without a portable am/fm radio, Walkman, or a beater boombox strapped into the passenger seat next to me.

So, what do you all listen to in the car? Radio, tapes, CDs, Ipod? Factory or after-market? Current or vintage?

At the moment I've got a pair of Sansui house speakers on the back seat (huge things with 12" woofers) fed by a Pioneer cd/mp3/tuner head unit via a big blue amplifier that I can't recall the brand of at the moment, but it's 75w p/channel RMS IIRC so all in all the setup kicks plenty hard enough and sounds amazing.

Media-wise, I tend to use CD-R MP3 discs, the antenna is not connected but that doesn't really matter as I don't have any real desire to listen to the radio in the car (not in this area at least!) :-P

Mine's Factory all the way, which you may think is a bad thing, but NO!
Factory Dynaudio splits in each door, 40w x 4 Class D amps, RDS Radio, Optical connections for all audio and data.

Rocks out very hard.....

My car audio set-up?
Well, if I had my car right now, which sadly is not the case  I would take a picture of how I make my car vibrate.
My VW Bug from 1960 is all ready for a radio but I do not have one and boy, 6V Radios are expensive! Other than that, it would only be one speaker sounding sitting behind the blind of the main-board in front of you (left of the steering wheel).
So I stuff my Crown 850 with D-Batteries and let it rock, cruisin' down the Ku'Damm and the Street of 17 July.
My profile picture was taken on the Potsdamer Platz by the way, center of Berlin ;-)

Oh, how badly I want my car back    1 day down, 60 days to go :-/
