Rode past a garage sale and rescued these Sansui vintage tower speakers and couldn't leave them behind. 10" speaker, 10" radiator, 4" midrange, and tweeter.

What is the point of a freaking 10" radiator???

Kind of interesting, but now what do I do with them?

They are beautiful, that's why I had to take them home!

We can always hang these from your ceiling in your place skip, plenty of room up there! hahaha

Looks good to me. What's wrong with a 10" passive radiator? I'm sure it could easily make use of it. And at least it's a REAL passive with a coil on it, unlike the fake passive in the CS-880 that reverbs too much with the DSL on.

Those are some gorgeous speakers. I still love the wood grain speakers of the past so much better than the cheap black look nowadays. :-)

How much wattage can they handle? 4 ohm or 8ohm?
I think they are 180w and 8ohm.

You need another stack of speakers for your place?

I agree Bill, I love the looks and SOUND that comes from vintage stereo cabinets like these. ;)

These are the gems of old world. Why, I don't happen to come across such things? :hmmm:
The passive radiator must be doing the job of bass reflex port.

those must be quality woofers because you normally don't see those thick heavy baskets on cheaper speakers , those frames are pretty much standard issue for most car audio subs of the 90's in the 8/10/12/15 inch woofers.even some of the fosgate spp pro series used those same frames and those are very high end speakers from rockford.

as for the radiator , it's job is to actively double the moving mass of the active woofer, this setup is used to allow for smaller cabinet size and the radiator acts as a port to increase spl and efficiency.

New owner just picked these up. Going to a good home! I already have 3 sets of vintage cabinets, otherwise I would have kept them.
