Apparently, there are some really dedicated vinyl collectors out there. Some of the prices leave me dazed and confused, but hey, to each his own.

i know --
same thing with tons of collector things -

a few months ago -- i was making toy pool boats - just 6" to 48" -
so i ventured into ebay to find some battery operated outboard motors

i expected they would be in the $10 to $25 range -
and yes- the newer plastic motors were about $20

but the real serious ' collector ' outboards were the metal 1955 Mercury replicas-
some sold for $$$ THOUSANDS !!!!!!!!
( these are tiny 5" long items )

the sellers of those use an odd expression ...... " HOLY GRAIL "
