I would have likely gotten one of these if they had added a digital FM tuner. And I can hear it now. Someone is yelling at their screen at this very moment while reading this saying: "Who listens to the radio these days anyway?". Well, probably the old-school person who would appreciate those beautiful VU meters while listening to their favorite cassettes I suppose :hmmm:. Yes, not everyone listens to the radio but IMO if you're going to have a cassette player in there with VU meters, might as well keep it old school all the way. Especially for $500 dollars.

They have stiff competition already with the China-box for $249 with Radio/DAB+ and CD/Cassette Player w/Bluetooth. And with the BB777 on the horizon with a kickstarter price of $549/$579, they'll need to dial their price back if they want to be competitive.

This is just my opinion. I am not knocking this product.

I think they're going after a different type of customer. Coffee-house hipsters who haven't been paying attention to all the other boomboxes on the market.

Do we know if the BB777 will have a proper erase magnet or permanent?

At this point, there isn't a boombox on the market that plays cassettes, that has the performance of the We Are Rewind. That of course can change very soon with the BB777. I'm excited.

That's a good question.

I know they were talking about sourcing Japanese head replacements versus going with the heads that come by default on the Tanashin style deck clones. But I am not sure if that includes an active erase head. I sure hope so because that's truly the only way to get a decent recording.

@mellymelsr may be able to answer that for us here when he logs in again.
