Hi,

I've posted here before about by VZ2000, which is in excellent condition other than the door of the record player looks slightly misaligned, and it causes a scuffing sound and record skips when it's playing.

I got the guidance to take it out and re-seat it and see if that fixes the alignment issue. However, when I unscrew the two screws indicated in the image below, they come out easily enough until right at the end of the screw, where it 'pops' and seems to catch. It feels like it's pulling on plastic or something and then that friction slips. Maybe that's as far as they go?

I know I'm not supposed to take the screws out all the way, but if I open the door and push down as the guide suggests, nothing seems to move, and I can't get the unit to drop down and shift forward.

Anyone ever done this move before? What am I missing or getting wrong? Thanks for any help you can give!

That guide is horrible. Follow the service manual and take the front cabinet off first before you start messing with the turntable.

you may be able to align the bottom springs by pushing down on the turntable assembly and pulling forward but you can only pull it so far because you have to separate the halves to remove the switch plate above the turntable. if you loosen the two halves up enough you can spread it apart enough to remove the switch panel then you can pull the whole turntable out.

if i remember you remove the case front first. then you remove the record deck. but be careful as you pull it forward. there are some small plugs that go onto the circuit board. you will crack the board if your heavy handed

if the turntable sitting in the opening crooked then it's probably not lined up at the bottom if it's pretty straight then the springs are probably lined up. you can shift this turntable around just by removing the screws in the backing plate and the shipping screws from the back case.

I'll probably try this first then, thanks
