Van Halen's Boombox (no not that one!)

So, I have been reading the book "Runnin with the Devil" by Van Halen's manager from 1978-1985, Noel Monk.



I was looking at the cover when I realized that there was indeed and boombox in it, but obscured by the text, so I found the actual picture...any idea what it is?

The slanted top reminds me of a Hitachi. However, it appears to have an 8-track sticking out of the side.

Looks like Floyd got it right. I'm still trying to figure out what that is on the side.

It looks like some kind of tag hanging from the handle because if you look at it closely it's crooked.

If anybody remembered devol Toni , he used to collect these types of Panasonic's.

Doesn't seem to be a common box, mid / late 70's
