So i decided to upgrade the speakers to the rising 20/20 i notice they seem to be rotted and at high volumes they tend to sound distorted.
The origional woofers on the boombox are 10w & 8 Ohms each and the tweeters are 6w 4 Ohms
My question is if these 130w & 8 Ohm woofers i selected on amazon would be a good choice

As for the tweeters i wouldn't know what size they are or which ones to choose? and would the boombox be able to handle 130w woofers and be safe?
thanks a bunch guys

The original speakers are 10 watts because that's all the amp was designed to put out to each one.

hmm suppose installing a more powerful amp into it like this one would do?

All boxes are engineered to work ideally at the power level they're given. Think of an engine upgrade - you don't just end it there, you upgrade the brakes, sway bars, etc. to handle the extra torque. So if you're determined to do this, and want to retain cassette and radio functionality, just keep in mind that any amp you choose has to have a way to accept another amp's speaker outputs as its input. Otherwise, your only option is the Bluetooth or line-level input on the amp, but then at that point all you've achieved is converting the Rising into a glorified Bluetooth speaker for your phone.

Running the upgraded box on batteries may not have enough power, and even if it did, probably wouldn't last long before they died. You'd probably want to look at upgrading from D cells to a rechargeable Li-ion battery pack or something.

If batteries don't work out, it's still not straightforward, because the transformer in there right now isn't designed to supply all the extra power of a second more powerful amp, so you'll have to plug not only the original cord in, but a SECOND cord that comes with the amp - probably one of those laptop-type adapters with an AC plug that goes to a power brick, then a DC connector that goes to the amp. You could try to use the amp's power supply for the box's power, but 12V may not be enough as it probably wants 15V-18V.

The speakers aren't sealed either, so you're not going to see much of an improvement with bass, but the whole thing will rattle a whole lot more than it was designed to, so some Rockmat or Dynamat would probably be necessary.

I don't know why that radio would have 8 Ohm speakers. That's too restrictive. The Rising SRC-2005 is the exact same radio, just with different cosmetic trim, and it has 4 Ohm speakers. Here is what they say on the magnets:

Woofers "Rising HSP-004 4Ω 5W Japan 16B"
Tweeters "Rising HSP-003 4Ω 3W Japan 16L"

The load is lower than 4 ohms in a Parallel Circuit. 8 ohm Woofer and 4 ohm Tweeter.

If they sound distorted at higher volumes
try cleaning the switches and controls,
the high volume may rattle the contacts
causing the sound to go bad.
