I bought a nice Conion C-100F last year, pulled the back cover off to spray all the switches.. Buttoned it all up, played for a few seconds, sputtered and died! I figured the amp chips were blown... :annoyed:
All it would do is turn the tuner light on, nothing else would power up..
Didn't really mess with it til tonight.. I was messing with the red and black wires that clip to the power board near the transformer and was sputtering it back to life!
At first I thought it was the clip itself that the wires were in, but after some poking and prodding and hypothesizing... I desoldered the clip from the circuit board, only to find one of the prongs was no longer intact.. This is why it wasn't making connection!

Being that this unit is missing the battery cover, I swapped the battery power clip to the main power (for now) to get this box up and jumpin again!
Now that she's back to life, I had to do a little celebratin! :breakdance: :breakdance: :breakdance:

its always a pleasure to be able to diagnose a fault on your own box, especially one as good as this, then go on to successfully fix it,must be a real buzz for you so congratulations.....id love to hear 3 c100's pumping....wow

Thanks guys, yes it does feel great to get it bumpin again..Being I only got to use it for a few minutes when I first bought it!

I'm guessing those clips aren't a ready available part to order..? They seem like a Conion only clip, different from other circuit board clips... The ones on my Korean C-100F that I have disassembled aren't even the same... :hmmm:

I'll hopefully find someone parting out a Japanese C-100F with a broken power board, just for the clip.. (So I can use on battery power again too)

I'm not the only with s bad plug!
Nice job!!
I have an Aiwa 660 with this dame problem,I actually soldered each wire on the board itself and electrical taped the wires down to make it do they don't move much at all!
Success is a good thing!!:)
Great job on the temp fix, heck they're made to run on batteries anyhow!!

"..and as I was walking at night, these 3 pairs of lights came hovering into view. As my hair stood up on end, The ground began to shake, and my dog went running for cover so fast his paws never hit the ground"
"wow, a real ufo encounter?"
"No, it was my neighbors Conion stack."

As silly as it seems, I have been known to bust open discarded TV's to harvest clips out of them for various applications. It may not be "Conion" original, but it could be an option to restore battery power and serviceability. Even if you cannot solder the clip(s) directly to the board, you can solder it to a couple of jumpers and reinforce it with some shrink tubing. Just a thought. :hmmm:
Good to see you got it going on AC power in the meantime. :-)

Great to hear it wasnt anything major!!!!
II would just solder the leads right to the power board.
You could also find a generic pull apart with wire leads on it that you could solder in place if you ever need to unplug the wires from the board. Very easy fix for someone with some basic soldering skills.
