So my wife and I were out today hitting the thrift stores in Ventura (I can't say which ones or Peter AKA Fresh Produce will start hitting them   ) and I found this clean Sears SR 2100.

This thing is SPOTLESS, fully complete and working. Plays tapes, rewinds, fast forward. It features a battery light, stereo light and a 10 LED single level meter. The antenna is straight, battery door is there and compartment is clean.

The only drag is, there is no line in, but for a working cassette deck, this is the perfect beach radio.

But most of all, this thing sounds surprisingly good, WAY better than I would have expected for such a small radio.

You know what's cool....the lady at the counter tells me, "So your the lucky one huh?" I said "Excuse me". She says "I get people in here all the time asking for these radio's. They don't come up very often and I had a guy in here begging me to take his number and call him if any radio's come in, he was a collector" she says....Was that you Peter?

Another guy walks up who works there and says "Damn, I was hoping to buy that, but they have a store policy that something has to be there for a certain amount of time before employee's can buy items from the store". On the way out the door he asked to get a picture of the radio.

Ya gotta love it. :-D

That`s a neat little machine. I wished my bombeat 40 was in that condition. Nice one.

Bad Boy Bill

Yeah, not to bad. I have read so many times of people finding them in thrift stores. This is only the second one I have ever seen in a thrift store. The funny part is, my wife and I were going store to store about 1 mile from the store I found this in when a lady walked up with $5.00 off coupons for any purchase. So, with our coupons in hand we drove over to the store and I found this radio. There is a very good chance I would not have gone in other wise!
So, after getting $5.00 off, it was only $22.50 ;-)

It's not a grail or even a high value radio and I certainly can't "Flip It" for big money....But after moving that Toshiba RT 9990SM off to BlasterPunk, I have been suffering from a little bit of separation anxiety :'-( . Especially when I see that blank spot on the shelf were the Tosh used to be! Now with the Trident I got last weekend and this Sears radio....I'm feeling a little less anxious :-P

Wow this little bad boy looks mint

I'll tell you what....tonight I threw some batteries in it (6 D's) and my wife and I sat our back and played some cards with this new purchase and it's got great full sound. I would expect it to be a tinny, thin, hollow box. It only has a "Tone" knob. But the volume knob shows "Loudness" and I swear it has nice full bass at lower volume and then tightens up when you get over half way and beyond. This little Sears is easily as loud as the GE and my much larger BomBeat RT-S84. It's got an "OK" Stereo Wide especially outside and if your 8 feet away. 2nd box in 2 weeks and I'm happy with it :-D

:agree: It's beautiful. Classic styling too. Nice save.

Thanks FUZZ, those are the exact words that went through my mind in the store...."SAVE".

Do I need a small radio with no line in?.....well Yeah...

But more than that....it's super clean and deserves a spot on the shelf  I hope to retire the same one day  :-P

Nice minty one Chris! I've given up looking in thrift stores; nice to see that there's stil hope - outside of L.A. at least!

Just curious, anyone know if there is an AKAs of this box (don't most Sears boxes have AKAs?)? :hmmm:

Go!

I have kind of given up too....but my wife and I still like to go looking for the hell of it. I still hit garage sales and estate sales. But picking's are pretty slim.

I'm positive there has to be plenty or AKA's. This thing has a Sanyo feel
