Hi Guys been awhile :-)

I know alot of people aren`t a fan of these , but something about being able to spin vinyl on the beach is just - retro - and according to my wife, downright embarrassing  Move over SG-J500 ..

Picked up a new to me JVC DC-33 Boombox on fleabay . In the original box , all packaging intact ..opened the first "cover' box, then to the meat and potatoes :-)

Carefully slit the tape on the original box- and to my surprise , and delight ; an ultra rare DC-33 battery box, sitting right on the top in it`s place in the styrofoam! This made the entire purchase worthwhile as i have always wanted to find one , and have rarely seen them anywhere.

The box...

The unit , mint except for a few strange melt marks on the rear of one speaker..IMG_20130911_221204.jpgmelt marks.JPG

Not to worry , have spare parts and changing the cabinet will fix it :-D

Fully functioning , and seeing double :-O :hmmm: :p 2 dc.jpg

Have a great night everyone ;)

Ohh lovely. I really like the look of these. Would definitely like to own one some day.

Taking it to the beach? I don't know about that, vinyl and hot days in the sun is recipe for disaster akin to taking
your cassette collection to magnet convention.

Rock On.

Very cool. I've heard Scott's before and the sound super

Bad Bad Bill
Getting the owners manual was a plus, JVC claims it is 12 watts RMS per channel- who knew?

The bass can sound hollow at low volumes - think I saw a mod on how to improve the bass response by using insulation- compared to the DC-7 I had , the DC-33 has much more tone control , the DC-7 has a push button each for treble and bass for me that was a minus.. but if you are a linear tracking fan then the DC-7 does have that- it also weighs in at 40 plus pounds , compared to the DC-33 weighing in at about 25...

Solution:
On thae hot days, leave the vinyl at home and only take shellac records to use in the sun. Sorted, they don't melt. :-D

One downside, you need to like pre-'60s tunes as vinyl had more or less taken over by then, but hey, I have most of Fats Domino's singles on shellac so it doesn't have to be the end of the world.

Thanks guys , yes the battery box was a plus .. Will run her on batteries to see how long it lasts - and hopefully with a little luck , when the batteries run down, the turntable will play at 16 rpm speed :p now THAT would be hilarious after a few wobbly pops ;)

.. Kind of like the fire packs that make colors you throw in the campfire - whenever anyone comes that is new to the camping thing , they say "wow , nice colors".. we usually say what colors?
