hi folks! this is Themightyrepairer from S2GO.. i just wanted to let you know the new JVC Kaboom for ipod is comming out the end of January.. i put the link on S2GO and here it is for you all.. i'm very excited to finally see it come out here in the U.S. i have been following any news on this for months.. it's the first time in a long time that i have been excited about a new boombox.. i will be first in line to get one.. and post a review here and on S2GO.. here's the link http://ces.cnet.com/8301-31045_1-10427654-269.html sorry dont know how to link ohter than this on this site..

Looks like JVC might be listening to the masses after all. ;-) I did manage to find a picture of the new Kaboom. Still no tweeters though :-/ :

You would have thought they would have reissued it in Army green.People go nuts over those early ones on Ebay.

I'm excited to see it in person but I'm also a little disappointed in the lack of at least a basic tweater.

I'll be in line for one too although getting rid of the AM tuner -- why? That means both the Altec and Kaboom are now doing away with AM.

I checked it at a local shop and I was disappointed

It is smaller , it doesn`t have line in, the bass response is not so impressive like the NB10
The display is cheaper cause there is no dotmatrix, only alphanumeric.

The new NB50/51 is good, but the NB10/20/99 are better :'-(

:'-( We had high hopes but in the back of my mind this is what I expected. The bean counters running JVC are probably just looking to maximize profit by taking advantage of the status of the old Kaboom. This is exactly what took place in the late 80's and early 90's when boomboxes became cheaply built, as they say history is doomed to repeat itself.

I'll hold out final judgement for my own inspection but you've have confirmed my suspicions. :blink:

i already got three kabooms dont need one with less power and a dock for a device i will never use. hats off to jvc for bringing out a loud portable but it would seem to me jvc cannot move forward or backwards a bit more of the same.

No cassette & no AM-no buy!! I have to have cassette-in my books it's not really a boombox then!
Sorry JVC-I'll stick to the vintage stuff!!

well i see a few of you disagree with the lack of a cassette deck.. nothin personal.. but cassettes are seriously old school.. same with CD's.. MP3's or other digital compression is definitely the way to go.. mainly for the amount you can store on such a small space.. i'm not dissin cassettes.. but they had there time on the planet.. i mean i can store thousands of songs on my IPOD touch.. play them randomly.. and it's instant.. no rewind/FF.. no hiss.. just pure digital goodness.. nothin against cassettes.. but lets face it.. it's a dead format.. in my eyes anyways.. please no flaming :-D

are there any ipods, etc or new gadgets
that can copy off the radio ??

hello,i have nb20 and the bass is incredible but it is to heavy!25 pounds,the new is not so powerfull but lighter.not a bad thing.
