I Am Legend
a few of us members here --may not have come from wealthy upbringings --and some may still
remember the agony of the times when our parents just could not afford the toys or games or
bikes or baseball gloves etc we wanted so badly -
well - it would be a rare event that all of us could not hit a cheap BIN TODAY and score all
of those things --some is almost new condition

another joy is bidding WAY to high at the last second and winning for 1/2 what you were prepared
to pay

yet more jollies to to see all the items you own selling for 14 times what you paid

a most rare joy is getting and old boombox very well packed and then seeing //hearing that its is
much better shape than described
---------

we all know too much about the ebay negatives -
so this is a topic for just ' good stuff '

Just grabbed a DT-680 for 28 bucks from ebay, local pickup. That's 4 now. 0_o.

Best sounding radio for less than a carton of beer. Thank you very much.

10 years ago, back when money orders were still an accepted form of payment on eBay, I sent money orders totalling $1750 to a zero feedback seller for a set of wheels and tires..

Luckily, they showed up on a pallet a week later from Florida!

I have had too many good deals to share in one post.

But Ira is right, the rare occasion that one shows up better than described is one of the best feelings.

I hope we all score something special every year at least!

regardless of selling price, I am always the second place winner.

But yes good deals are nice. My 1st Gen 931 was bought for a low price, probably because the seller said it didn't power on, so he couldn't test it. I got it, put batteries in it, switched it to DC, and everything worked and sounds great!!! Besides of course needing belts. I eventually replaced the power supply so I could also use the cord.

My m90 was better than described.
Keep in mind i was a total newbie when i got it.
I opened the box and it was dusty and dirty as all hell. I remember thinkin...eh its OK.
Then I posted pics on here and Ira said that was one of the nicest m90 he's seen. So I grabbed a damp cloth and some qtips and went to town on it.
When I was all done I remember thinking...holy **** this thing is beautiful. Hardly a scratch on it. Fully working.
Funny how I couldn't see perfection through a thick layer of dust and dirt.

My 975 was new old stock and I paid like 3 bills for it not even knowing that.
The sellers sent me a thank you letter before I received it saying how grateful they were that I spent so much money on something they had laying around the house. Almost as if they felt guilty like I paid them too much.
When it arrived with the plastic still on the handle and that new box smell....I thought I hit the lottery. Then I felt like I stole it from them! Its a beauty.

You would think so wouldn't ya.
If only i would have spent my money buying from members...instead of over bidding on eBay cuz I was bankin at the time. For what i paid for all my boomers they should all be mint....but they ain't. Just those two and maybe two others.
Guess that's why I'm leery about buying anything anymore.

Great topic.

Super, you just need to polish your sniping skills!

Ebay is great for finding rare items that would normally take years to find, if at all.

Ever notice the herd mentality on ebay? Rare boxes sometimes appear in packs: there are lots of them at once, and then ,like a herd of buffalo, they are gone. Silence for months.

that word rare is not very rare anymore . now everything on ebay is rare . like being rare makes a ****ing difference if you are selling some pos item nobody cares about or can afford. now ebay is just the douche bag outlet store for motherfuckers with more money than brains.

bragging rights aint' cheap and 9 times out of 10 you will never meet the people you are trying to impress.

Ebay is AWESOME! I love the fact I can shop for anything & almost always can find it.....

For someone living in a medium sized city, it is a god-send since a lot of things on my list aren't available except by special order & at huge markups....
