We also lived with some pretty ugly furniture, and didn't throw up.
Tell me about it. I can still remember the horrid couches my family had when I was a kid. Don't even get me started on the green, shag carpet we had in the living room.

I loved the 60's & 70's but the 80's were the best
as I discovered the stereo boomboxes and
I started driving to!!

The 70's were very special as I always rode my
bike everywhere and had my 1970' Craig 2606
laydown Boombox I got in 76' from my brother.
Then there was Red Owl where I started working
in 78'! I guess all those decades were special
for me!!  :surf:

My GrandMa had plastic covers on all her sofas and chairs. Really! We had those rain oil lamps with the naked lady in it too. I miss the Atari 2600.

I think the world was not so different, no matter where you lived. if perhaps the difference was in the ease of acquiring certain material things. I do remember that if something was thrown, was that totally impossible to repair.

the TV in my house, was a white& westinghouse, from 1960 b&w, the first TV on my street, I works through the end of the 80.

We would leave in the morning on our bikes and nobody would know where we were until we came home for dinner.
Parents would be calling the police and posting on Facebook if kids tried that today.

Had an Italian Lambretta 175cc that I inherited from my late father back in 1975. He bought in new in 1967. Riding that scooter was the biggest fun I had in those days.

See some pictures of that model below:

No doubt. Bicycles & Skateboards were our first sense of freedom. Recently, I told my Mom where (and how far away) I would ride my bike to with my buddies. She just shook her head in amazement. Ten to fifteen miles away to a lake to jump off the rocky cliffs into deep water during Summer. Then, hit the 7-11 stores for the best Slurpees on the Planet on the way back.

1981 here. Didn't get a bike til I was 9 and I LIVED on bmx bikes after that. Used to stay up til the wee small hours taping songs off the radio under my doona so I could listen to it the next day. Was ace at playing Alex Kidd in Miracle World, as we couldn't afford any games at the time! Inherited my uncle's Tamiya Big Bear r/c monster truck :-) loved it to death. It died so many times and now its innards live in an r/c boat I made. Racing vintage pedal cars down BIG hills and over jumps we made into cardboard box piles... I really wish I could revisit those times by request, just once in a while... even remembering mum dressing me by the heater while I tried to eat weet-bix and watch astroboy at the same time...
