Then friend patrick called me to come to the danube island for a party.
Party?
Let´s go.

The danube island is a green zone between the "old" and the "new" river danube.
And perfect for partys, because there is no disturbing of neighbours.

I asked him about music.
Hm, i will take my iphone with speakers there, pat told me....

To late to plan something special.
I only found 4 fresh batteries.
So take my PHILIPS compactline, mount a shoulderstrap from a old bag on it and let´s go.

A few houndred people where there, starting one rocket and cracker after another.
War zone!

My group was about 20 young boys and girls.

boombox started, frequency on radio energy btw 88,6 music station.
The silvester party mix was running.
Everybody dancing around :ymca:
To sad about no pics, but it was so awful dark there...

a guy came to me and added a blinky sticker on the tapedoor.

About 3 hours there.
My ears are dead, i could sleep now for hours, but it was my most funny newyear ever!

That's awesome!! Your friend, Pat, should have known better than to think he could use an iPhone hooked up to some pitiful little speakers.

Just think... If you had found a BIGGER boombox, the whole town would have been rockin' in the New Year.

Great story... and a great use for a great Philips boombox. Par-teeee! New Year's on the Danube River... so historic! That must be one of the joys of living in Europe: so much history everywhere.


The only river we have around here is the Rouge River. No partying there because of the pollution from storm sewer runoff and illegal waste discharge from manufacturers. I guess I could always have some 2010 fun by participating in one of the community clean-up projects throughout the year. I could even bring along a boombox to make the day go by faster. Of course, I'd have to be careful not to let the box fall into the river. With all the chemicals in the water, it would dissolve on contact!

Just planning to modify one of my boxes for MP3.
It should be a 1 piecer, good sound, not too heavy,...
