Tape Deck 9696 Wont stay closed

Could this be an easy fix? Any help appreciated.

Right off, I would say it could be a couple of things. The door release mechanism that is activated when pushing the EJECT button could be stuck in the "open" position. That would prevent the latch from catching the door.

The other thing is the catch tab on the actual door is broken.

Those two things would be a starting point for me.

I didn't get it! Please explain it a little better.


If someone forced the front section to open without releasing the door catch, it will break the catch on it or will damage the eject mechanism. It can be all fixed.
