I actually think it's pretty cool - and I'm thinking of getting a 60 or 65 inch Sony for Christmas.
Here's why. If you don't want to watch 3D - you don't have to - it will play regular programming just the same. But if there's a cool cartoon, a movie or a game in 3D - why not? It would only enhance the viewing experience, in my opinion.
Also, 3D TV's shouldn't cost much more than the regular ones, because all tech is in the glasses. As far as I remember - they use a different technology now with active shutter glasses - not the glasses from the 50s. Overall, I personally can't wait too see it in person - at which point my opinion may or may not change
But so far I'm pro 3D
