Sony PS-Q7 TT

Lots of you may know this turntable, it's the optional extra for the FH-7 series of boxes.

I was lucky enough to win a Mark I FH-7, the seller included the turntable in the auction, nice.
Lots of issues with both though. Let's start with the turntable.

Cosmetically 90%, functionally zero. No platter spin, no audio, just a constant motor sound from inside. So, a peek inside.

First find, direct drive has servo speed feedback. A turntable with an AUDIO head!!!

Then, we see the motor for the arm mech, running madly..

And why, because this $2 belt has stretched....

So, new belt, and like all of my boxes and devices a new AC power cord

Now, all you need is the separate sub-woofer that was available for the FH series boomboxes.

Tricky find, local repairer had one.
Sad story, he had two repair shops, now has just one.

Said to me, in thick accent "Nobody gets anything fixed these days, you know."

But, he sold the robo to my wife....

Very nice TT

I passed up my first chance at one of these for $20
because it needed repairs.
After that i found how hard it is to find any at all and have
continualy missed out on any for sale
