I had a question about a Sharp VZ-2500 I was the high bidder on. It according to the seller, works well in all respects. No problems with the turntable or tape deck. It looks fine from the photos,(from what I can see) expect for a few scratches on the speaker grills.

However it is in Germany! So am concerned about shipping all the way to the USA.

Any thoughts or advice? Shipping screws to keep the turntable in place. .

Has anyone here gotten a VZ or other fragile boom-box sent from overseas?

If so then how did things go?

I have not relayed my concerns to the seller, so i do not know how he plans to ship it.

I had one shipped in from the UK. Thankfully every thing worked out. It was packed very very well. It was actually shipped to a members address so they could verify how it was packed and then they sent it to me here in the states (I was very grateful to this member  ). EMS delivered it and it only took 2 days. Unbelievably fast. A lot depends on the cardboard box used, the material around the boomer and to make sure the unit can not move around in the packing material. If it can move around, it will work it's way to one side of the box and this is when most boxes get damaged since they are thrown from place to place during the shipping process. Best of luck.

Never recieved from outside the states but....

I recieved a 975 from So cal. the transformer broke off in the case and destroyed it from the inside out.

I shipped a mint 931 to Aussieland and triple boxed it to the 9s

had it in an original I 931 box, then boxxed that up, and boxed that box up.

transformer broke off in that too. and I pack tight!

I would ask that the transformer be taking out, and packed safely.
