Just getting around to posting pics of my newest Box the Sharp GF-909!

It is in great shape. Only issue is some discoloration on one of the speaker covers.

In my list as well. Looks swell. 28watt or 60?
There's a 60 watt version? That sounds awesome. Wonder what the output would be for those amps...stereo80s.com is blank on the GF-909 page. :hmmm:

They're most likely the same. Just like all the 9696 models are the same even though some say 40W and others say 24W or whatever. I think the only reason they're labeled differently is because they decided to use a different testing methodology for each country, to follow whatever the advertising custom is over there.

Most of those wattage numbers are BS anyway because they don't tell you whether it was measured on AC or DC, and whether it's a true RMS rating or just "peak output" bullsheit.

Most boomboxes only put out like 5-15 watts per channel RMS, and that's at 10% distortion. Only the M90, RX5350, RX7200, C100 and a few others push it significantly higher.

Hell, my Marantz PMS-3500 is supposedly only 2.5W per channel according to the service manual

Actually, I didn't remember offhand exactly what the specs were on a Hitachi HA 1392 as I don't have any big Sharps anymore. Upon inspection of our fine service manual library, I found it's spec sheet, though, and under various voltage supplies it has different output wattage ratings (all RMS.) It's rated at 4.3 wpc on 12 volt power and a whole 6.8 wpc on on 15v power. I think that second number is probably where the 28 watts comes from. In reality, you could say it has the potential for 27.2 total watts combined from all 4 channels, I guess.
I would be more likely to believe the Sharp service manual's claim of 4wpc for the outer mid-woofers and 3 wpc for the super-woofers, all RMS. That's a little more believeable under real world conditions,

My curiosity is because I would like to swap out my 1000 speakers and was curious if the amps are the same across the board on those GF 4 speaker boxes.

I think I remember someone saying the GF1000 had better amps, or maybe it was better speakers.
