hi, i've already asked about the 9191 but this is a separate question so I thought a separate thread would be better.

the 9292 and 9191 have phono, so with a phone to line converter I could plug into that, but with the 9090 there is only din. I have heard that DIN is line level, but have heard conflicting reports on whether you can actually use din to connect to the boombox. Apparantly the DIN is just for recording, so you have to press record when using the DIN input, but will I actually be able to hear it through the speakers?

I could use a cassette adaptor but the box i'm looking at (9090) has a faulty tape deck, so DIN, modifying the box to accept line, or FM transmitter are my only options

does anyone have any information on how DIN inputs work on the 9090/9191/9292

On my 9191the DIN In doesn´t work. I use the Mic Mix In. You just have to use a Stereo to Mono Adaptor. Elsewise you would only hear one Channel from your Mp3 on both Speakers. With the Adaptor it´s still Mono, but you hear both Channels. And turn the volume of your Mp3 down. ;-)

You could also use your Tape Adaptor. The Tapedeck don´t need to run. The Tapehead should be ok, that´s enough. I even would disconnect the Deckmotor, cause you don´t need it.

Yes, with the tape set on "record" you will be able to hear the tape monitor function. Just set the deck on "pause." :-D

oh that's great to hear the tape deck doesn't need to turn to play the adapter. Sweet, I think that is definitely the best option then

Usually the din port is a one wire connection for record and playback.
With my telefunken I just bought a din cable and a 1/8th inch stereo cable.
Cut one end off of both cables, strip the wires back and find the two that are associated
with playback. Connect outer braid sheild on both cables together and then one wire connection for left and one for right
from the 1/8th inch connector to the din cable. Does the radio have a selectable line or aux input???
if not you may not be able to get sound unless record is pressed.
