Hey guys just thought i'd show my latest score, its an RX-DT680. got it off ebay oz for $60, a work mate lived near the seller and i couldn't be bothered going that far (lol) so he picked it up for me and brought it to work, had it jamming all day while at work. i'd heard nothing but good things about these so soon as i saw it on ebay i jumped on it, sound is very nice, has such nice bass for its size and even came with the original remote and the simple design of the box looks dead sexy!, the seller had owned it since new which i thought was pretty cool.
everything works on it except for the CD, it spins up the CD but won't play just sounds like its skipping or trying to load it but can't do it. even the tapes work which i was suprised about.
cosmetically its not too bad, has a couple scratches but no broken bits etc, just has abit of white paint spatter which ive managed to get some off already.
only question i have is with the antenna, could someone post up a pic of theirs? mine looks odd, it sits straight up and you can't fold it down to clip it in, i unscrewed it and its just a straight antenna theres no joint or anything so it can fold :hmmm:
also i didn't realise these didn't have line in, which was a bummer, i could use mic mixing but it didn't sound all that great through that, how do you guys use your ipods etc with these? or do you just use mic mixing?
heres some pics :-)
Cheers.

Congrats on the 680!! They really are a nice sounding box with bass to spare. They certainly tear through 10 D cells in a hurry though so AC only for me.

That antenna looks nasty. It certainly isn't the original folding type. I'll have a look at my 680 tonight but that antenna hole looks like it might be a little damaged.

James....:-)

Your going to love that DT-680. I had one brand new when they first came out and have one now with remote and all. By the way, if you can get the CD going, take a data disc say an old one like Microsoft 2000 or an original XP disc and put it in the CD. Plug your mp3 player into the CD out. Hit play. Your CD out will act like a line in!

Nice find, i owned a 680 in 1992 and recently found a sweet one in Calgary, Canada. I hopped in my car and drove 500 miles just to purchase it ($100)and all works great. My dream machine and in my opinion the best boombox ever made. Enjoy this beautiful machine and treasure it-very sweet bass and powerful. :w00t:  :superduper:

I missed out on that exact model (fully working) last Summer at a thrift store. The seller only wanted $25, WITH the original manual. I only had $15 on Me and the seller wouldn't budge.
