Hmm. I think they probably closed because soldering is hard to do with six fingers on each paw. ;-)

Over on that side of the Border they do still have Samsung, Panasonic and not forgetting the factories where Datsun, Honda and Toyota build their cars so as one door closes, etc.

Good link Chris, one of those sites that you end up in for ages

If your into Urban Exploration there WAS a place up the road from me called the NGTE (pyestock), the home of the jet engine.

Urban explorers have put some great pics of the place online, and with me having a massive interest in the place, and it being just up the road, I always wanted to get in there for a mooch about but I never quite had the minerals to go over the fence :sadno:

http://www.ngte.co.uk/ I've spent nearly as much time looking at the pics on this site as I have on Boomboxery.

Alas, now its in the process of being demolished to make way for the biggest Tesco distribution centre in the south of England.
Another piece of history removed, I get depressed just thinking about it so i'll shut up :'-(

Back to boomers :w00t:

It is sad to see these places go. But time marches on. I went to the old Camarillo state mental hospital. It was where much of the US did their testing on people in the early days (1930's & 40's). This facility inspired the song Hotel California and had a bell tower that closely resembles the one used on the album cover, although that is actually the Beverly Hill Hotel.

Here is a video I filmed. Most of these buildings are now gone. The facility closed in the early 1990's and was opened recently as University Southern California Channel Islands.
