I won this rare, little boombox off eBay a while back. I even beat out OCD4U, which is an achievement unto itself!!

To be as small as it is, it sounds incredible! It's just a shade less than the FX-700 (for those of you lucky enough to have heard one). When the Super Bass is engaged is when the jaw drops. It's really impressive.

Here are the stats from the official Sansui flyer:

  • [*:3mfv21ff]AMPS (Automatic Music Program Search) for skipping unwanted songs - up to 3 at a time
[*:3mfv21ff]3 power choices: AC, DC, and car battery (adapter optionally available)
[*:3mfv21ff]Phono input for turntable connection; usable as line input
    [*:3mfv21ff]3-piece construction with detachable speakers
    [*:3mfv21ff]3-1/8" (80mm) full-range speakers
[*:3mfv21ff]Super bass switch to augment bass sound
    [*:3mfv21ff]Condenser microphones built in
    [*:3mfv21ff]Metal tape capability
    [*:3mfv21ff]Tape counter
    [*:3mfv21ff]Headphone jack
    [*:3mfv21ff]Mic mixing input
[*:3mfv21ff]ISS (Interference Suppression Switch) to remove noise from AM recording
    [*:3mfv21ff]FM mode(stereo/mono) switch
    [*:3mfv21ff]Folding handle for easy portability
    [*:3mfv21ff]Operates on 8 "C" size batteries
[*:3mfv21ff]Available in black and red finish

W: 18-13/16"
H: 4-5/16"
D: 5-7/8"

Weight: 8.8 lbs (4kg), excluding batteries

I know a few members here have the FX-700, but how many others have the FX-500? Enjoy the pictures!

have no markings/stickers that tell the rating --

Great score fatdog :w00t:  i wonder what the differances are between this and the 700 are.
For one thing... size! The FX-500 is much bigger than the FX-700. I think the FX-700 also has separate bass and treble controls. :hmmm:

Freddie, Ira and others would like to know what the wattage rating is on the FX-700.

Hey Uncle Ed, don't you still have one of these? Can you answer that question before Freddie?
