Replacement Speaker grills

For way too long, I have always been shy about removing the chassis from the C100s. I purchased my gold model with dented grills and a few issues such as the radio not playing in stereo and a missing lower cassette tray trim.

I got all of those issues resolved except the dented speaker grills.

Recently, I found a set of speaker grills in good shape for a decent price. I painted them, set them aside.

My wife started asking me if I was ever going to install them. I explained to her that the process is rather involved and I was nervous about tempting this by myself.

To my surprise, she agreed to assist, make labels and take photos to keep my wiring organized.

After I lifted my jaw up off the floor, I accepted the task. Having another set of eyes was the confidence I needed. I had zero issues, felt comfortable throughout the entire process and it fired up and worked great once back together.

So, this turned into a husband and wife tag team project. It was a little stressful getting everything to line up when putting the chassis back in the radio....but other than that, it went great.

I am so glad to get this done. I purchased this radio in 2012 and had been looking at those dented grills for 10 years. Needless to say, I was VERY happy to get those grills out and Finally bring this Gold Conion up to the level she deserves.FB_IMG_1657126012607.jpgFB_IMG_1657126017793.jpgFB_IMG_1657126028021.jpg20220513_094308.jpg

I know how you feel last time I worked on one of these it must have took me 50 tries to get everything lined up with it worked the way it was supposed to and I was scared the whole time I was going to break something because I basically had to do the same thing to get it open the first time cuz it was a cassette stuck in it they look great these are some good thick beefy grills probably the best quality you can get. Man that Grill was tore up you got to wonder how much force it took to pound that thing in like that. Looks perfect too you did a great job.

I wish I was talented enough to fix these.

I appreciate the positive feedback guys. I have really been playing the heck out of this thing since the grills were replaced.

I have no clue how they got that bent. I agree with Floyd....those things are made from vehicle frames. When you bend these....you're doing something!

I don't think there's too many one piece boxes that could have took that hard of a hit to get the dents like that so that Conion is a mother f****** beast.

I often wonder myself what the heck could've caused those dents. Those things are like truck frames.
