Removing the smaller 9494 tape deck mech buttons

Cleaning of my box is going well, I've unscrewed the larger (front) tape mech buttons and given them a good soaking in warm water before cleaning- they're still not perfect, but much better. Any more brush/scrubbing & I'm afraid of removing their chrome coating.

It looks like the back ones are just glued on- is there a safe way of removing these, or best to leave alone and try to clean further in situ?

I would leave em alone, once you take them off they never line back up right, these are glued so that everything says lined up . You might be able to dip them all at once in some cleaner and scrub with a mild toothbrush.

I'd rather they were a bit grubby than higgledypiggledy!
