At first the problem was intermittent. .t whould go dead while playing and then start playing again. Now dead completely. No power to music search LEDs nothing to tape deck nothing completely dead.

One of the hardest things to figure out to get the M90 deck working is the fact that everything is electronic and not mechanical. If your not real tech savy you may want to try to find a Technician in your area. Good luck!!

these decks use fusible resistors on the main board thats piggybacked on the deck more then likely it has gone bad they r designed to protect the electronics from overload,, now assuming your m90 has those original resistors and have not been tinkerd with then they can be replaced i belive it uses 4 one is clearly seen on the outside board on the top end of board.. these r the specs
fr-701 4.7 ohms 1/4 watts there are 2
fr-702 10 ohms 1/4 watts only 1
fr-703 2.2 ohms 1/4 watts only 1
fr-704 4.7 ohms 1/4 watts there are 2
the amp section uses these also ..hope this helps notice that alot of these decks were serviced with non fusible resistor type and may cause even more damage when it goes bad not a good thing

Soooo If the grey wire that goes across the back and end's up In the tapedeck section(co- ax) got twisted In a screw and the two wire's touched together, what part would It burn? Sounds like your talking about the insulated head wires
there's not a certain component that could be damaged because it could take out a slew of them. What you need is the M90 service manual

Checked all of those they all read perfect. Deck now has a little click to It but no clunk! Also I've lost my power light. Technician spent three hr's checking resistor's/caps and other related Item's(fixed a few solder's) no luck ,just a click we didn't have before. music scan must be related as It doesn't light up either. Metered the power lamp It Is fine! COULD It be an IC? As we have no way to check those.
