Here's my rare 1987 Centurion 2100r AM/FM Micro Boombox w detachable walkman.
I went into a local electronics shop and found it sitting on a shelf. I asked him how much, he said make an offer. I said $5.00 He said ok.
Took it home, cleaned it up and tested it and it works. :)
Walkman part takes 3 x AA batteries.
The boombox takes 6 x C batteries.
Made in Taiwan

Wow, great find, great price.

Those early walkman style cassette decks are DEAFENINGLY LOUD! Long before they started limiting volume. Many a teenager lost some hearing to these little guys!

Sweet! Have you tried it with an mp3 player attached to that 1/8" stereo jack? I'm thinking an older Android such as the Hero or Legend would sit well in the space currently occupied by the tuner.

World's coolest Skype box anyone?

 Oooooh! So how do you do video calls then?

OK, how about a high end Walkman played through that as a sort of 19th century equivalent to a smartphone?
