I take it back... *not good* that she was nominated. I did some checking on her. She gets overruled by the Supreme Court in 60% of her cases. She is NOT by her own admission going to protect the Constitution. She is an angry, bitter (and yes racist) woman who plans on using her power and position to push forward her social(ist) agenda. I can see why Obama nominated her. But why are YOU excited about her? Her race and sex? Is that all it takes. I couldn't care less about that. She is NOT a good choice to be on the highest court of the land charged with PROTECTING the Constitution. She sees it as a roadblock. Same as Obama does.

Don't get me wrong I love you guys... But I just can't see how anyone can support Obama, his socialist policies, his tax-dodging nominees etc, etc. In my opinion NOTHING he is doing is helping anyone. He is destroying our country at a mind bending pace. Who is going to pay for all this? If Obama thinks middle-age, middle-class, white Christian males are going to cover all this *crap* then he has another think coming.

The take-over of the auto industry is only one problem of many. Do you care that SECURED creditors were told to take a hike in favor of the UAW? You should. Your retirement account just got shafted. Are you at all interested in what went into the decision to close certain dealerships and keep others open? Some very successful REPUBLICAN owned dealerships were shuttered in favor of "others" who were not profitable. You should care when goverment takes over private enterprise and hands it over to their supporters. The same thing happened in Nazi Germany.

What is going on now is no different than looting in the streets. And it makes me sick. People need to get off the "feel good" train of "good intentions" and wake up to the realitiy of what is being done. Our country was founded on freedom and opportunity. Both are being taken away from us. Get ready for European "value added tax". Get ready for energy costs doubling. Get ready for every tax you can imagine going up or being created new. Social entitlement programs designed to keep people down and beholden to the goverment dole will get even more out of hand.

And it is much, much worse than I have even begun to describe. Where is the puking smilie when you need it.

Hold on to your boomers boys, when inflation takes hold in the next few years because of massive borrowing and debt you'll be able to sell your M90's for $10,000.

Ramon I hope you know that I only care about the qualifications of the person in the office. Not about race/sex/nationality. I care about free enterprise and equal opportunity for all. And I am against government control over all aspects of our lives. I am against taxation without representation. (Yes, I did attend my local "Tea Party" in Madison WI) I am against pretty much everything Obama is doing or attempting to do because this is not good for our country or the individuals he is pretending to try and help. It is about power, payoffs, paybacks and punishment right now. I have nothing against you (or Ira) being excited that a woman with her background was nominated. I have nothing against her background either. I have everything against her attitude and anti-constitutional rulings. She may have the "right" punchlist of background, but she is in no way qualified to do the job she will be entrusted to do. When she takes the oath of office to uphold the Constitution she will be LYING THROUGH HER TEETH. She has no such intentions.

And BTW... have you ever noticed that whenever the Liberal/Democratic party nominates or appoints someone they always have an inspiring background story. Pull them selves up by the bootstraps, overcoming all odds etc etc. They never once credit or thank the same social programs and assistance that they think everyone else needs to succeed. Hard work and mentors got them where they are... not a social worker and foodstamps. These programs are designed to keep the masses down... complacent and dependent on the government. It is very sad. The party that claims to be so color blind sees nothing BUT color. The party of opportunity sees nothing but gloom and the need for handouts. I don't care what their "intentions" are.

BTW I don't think that the Republican party has put forth a good CONSERVATIVE candidate in many, many years. I think George W did a pretty good job first term... and turned into a mess in the second term. I am a fan of the USA. And I think that there are very few people on both sides of the isle that are doing their job these days. The problem is that now that the Democrats control EVERYTHING they are running around like little children getting "even" with everyone who did them wrong... pushing through TRILLIONS of dollars in spending without batting and eye. They really don't care about what is going to happen in the future. Greed and lust rule the day. Is anyone thinking about what they are doing?

:agree: I'm with you here Spud and frankly it scares me to think about the repurcussions. The governement is now creating much more governement dependance than ever before, It's a vicious cycle I'm afraid has just been given a lot of traction.

I agree with Spud also. I say this even with my bias towards Puerto Ricans in general. I used to work in Kissimmee close to Disney World where there was a large Puerto Rican population. The area in which I worked was about 65% Puerto Rican, maybe 25% British tourists, and perhaps 10% native Floridian.Though I know it's not good to make general statements about people as groups,I found them to be pretty much to the person incredibly nice people. It was almost unreal actually.

From what I've heard of Miss Sotomayor, she would be very atypical for a Puerto Rican,at least from my experience. She seems to be a person with a chip on her shoulder much as Obama seems to have one on his.In actuality the minorities Obama seeks have less to do with their color, race, etc.,and more to do with those who dislike our system of government, capitalist economic system, and our constitution. In fact most minorities like the freedom and opportunity found in America,or at least appreciate it's there if they want it.

To understand Obama's decision requires some research into his background and influences.Obama taught community organizing in Chicago from the two books of Saul Alinsky.Unlike the violent anti-establishment radicals of the late '60s, Alinsky instead wanted to alter the American system by working within it to agitate for class warfare. The idea was to convince the majority of voters that the wealthy, or investors who create economic growth (and jobs),were shafting the little guy. These people would then be persuaded to elect by popular vote those who would agree to take wealth and investment capitol from the so called "haves" and redistribute it to the so called "have nots".It really doesn't matter to them that this would actually hurt economic growth. At least whatever money is out there is funneled through the "elite" government who increase their power, importance, and control. The effect would be the masses becoming subservient to an increasingly powerful and authoritarian government while the population becoming less differentiated from one another .The idea is to trade opportunity to advance oneself for the security of a government allowance.Everybody ends up equally poor. This is the best way for an authoritarian government to keep people in their place and to cement it's power and influence over its people. It is a type of enslavement.

It's really IS all about power. Our constitution was put together with the idea of limited government. However,it's not human nature for those wanting power to limit their power after acquiring it.At the very least,If only simply for popularity, many Democrats as well as Republicans fall into the trap of buying votes in this way. It's easy to vote for someone who promises you all sorts of goodies (taken from another). This really is the difference between a power hungry politician and a statesman.

The founders feared a centralized government with too much power. That is why they set up 3 equal branches as a check and balance. One of these branches, however, has found a way around this. They are merely trusted not to overstep their bounds. In recent years those wanting to make radical changes by judicial fiat have infiltrated the judicial branch of government as they are not elected. In fact supreme court judges serve for life and don't answer to anyone. It makes sense that Obama would gravitate towards an angry malcontent activist especially when making choices such as this.Obama has already stated that we need to break free of the essential constraints the founding fathers put into the constitution to effect social and economic justice not written into the document.

The real issue with Sotomayor is her self stated advocacy of judicial activism which is a way to subvert the normal process of policy decision being made by the legislative and elected branch of government. Activist judges like Sotomayor want to bring about change they know would not be supported at the ballot box or by our constitution.Sotomayor has by her own words stated in the past that she feels this unconstitutional activism is the responsibility of the judiciary to effect her,and people like her, personal view of what justice really is.Many judges have violated their oaths taken to uphold the constitutions because of this practice.Twisted, yes, but it really is all about power, isn't it?
