theres a lot of things both good and bad that have occurred over the last decade.
the one thing it would seem to be the most apparent to me is in many ways we have moved in reverse.
while there is more and more gadgetry out there to keep one busy to me its a really false advance. i mean the way people lived in the last century was so much different from how it is now.
the hope for owning a house for many has evaporated and the idea of a good paying job for all who want one seems to be far and away for many.
young people while they are more educated on many different levels have become content and happy to just take anything that is handed to them in terms of a future.
it just boggles my mind what passes for customer service in most cases these days. almost always service is the sign that hangs over the place where you give up your hard earned money.
we skidded off the tracks somewhere along the way as far as i am concerned. yes there was always crappy things happening, but there was also good things happening too. it would seem now people have turned there backs on many of the good things about the last century and have been replacing them with new valueless ideals.
its not so much about morality nor about beliefs its really about how much a person can retain of what truly makes us human that seems to be being pulled out from under us.
i mean it used to be if your fellow man fell you helped them up if you saw someone not doing so well you helped them to do better.
it seems in the last few years there has been a push on where big business will use the phrase of there is no money in it to justify everything.
wal-mart got huge in the last decade, the bigger it got the worse things seemed to get for the working class man.
yes you could go out and buy a vcr for thirty bucks but it broke in month and you just went out and bought another.
people scrambled around in the start of the new century snapping up things like diamond rios and mp3s became the geek way to get music for free.
hey man i can hold fifty songs on this thing . cds became obsolete dvds came out blu ray came out.
everything changed this last decade, people bought more computers than ever before but the sad truth of it is,nearly all of them are primarily used to access this thing called the internet.
the internet is a place where you used to be able to find all kinds of free information,i recently read the average person collects as much information in a day than one in the 1800s collected in there entire life.
we talked about heading back to the moon while many other countries also began to talk about visiting the moon.
the hubble telescope looked further into space than anyone dreamed possible. so far into space that the vatican had to change its ideas about the possibility of life out there.
people still dream about what could be in space and meeting visitors from another world, yet on earth people continue to find ways to kill one another. weather through war violent crime or through economic means.
this one puzzles me the most to be honest. theres only ten percent of the planets surface inhabited by people.
yet it would seem people are being crowded into bigger and bigger urban enviroments.
a house now costs so much money most people will not own it outright until they retire.
the car makers jumped up and down asking for a handout to keep things going, yet only eighteen percent of people on this planet even have a drivers permit.
we were told china was going to take over the world, corporations packed up shop and started making things over there.
people we out of work here so there was no money to spend on anything new.
china wanted to be the factory of the world but no one could buy anything at that point.
everything slid off to the side and the really rich people got bonuses for figuring out a way to get tax payer money to help them out.
i mean this to me is one of the great crimes of the history of humanity.
no gun was pulled. no people were shot at in fact only words were used and by the way the law is written it was stealing without any crime being committed.
i mean give me money ok i will.
theres no crime there but hey for the average working class joe there sure as hell is.
people became obsessed with tiny little lcd screens staring into text messages you tube videos and whatever other flashing lights and buzzing sounds that they could.
ever notice how most of the online content is designed for someone suffering from acute add who forgot to take there ritalin for the last month.
advertisers got so smart they figured out ways to sell there products by making commercials that cost the total of the amount of time to film a young man throwing a package of mentos into a bottle of diet pepsi.
it didnt even matter if both products tasted like tidy bowl cleaner people would by them just to blow them up.

it became cool to watch two men rolling around on the ground in thier underwear making animal noises trying to kill eachother.
dont get me wrong i can appreciate the athletic nature of mma the technique involved the training ect, honestly tho i will take a good boxing match any days of the week. i prefer to watch full contact combative sports where the two people are standing up.
tribal tattoos became a way of expressing your individuality that was up until the point were everyone had one and they even began to make them for little kids to stick on there arms.
why is it that many people who seek to be individual seem to gravitate towards doing the same thing.
theres a lot of other things i could say but i wont because i dont want to be overly political this isnt the place for it.
i cant lie tho, i used to really look forward to the future the same way a kid looked forward to christmas. i mean the generation most of us are from the future was supposed to be fantastic.
no one was supposed to starve there wasnt going to be any war.
hell we werent even going to have to work because robots would do anything and money would be obsolete.
you wouldnt have to worry about being sick because they were going to be able to cure everything and disease would be obsolete.
so much for that.
where is my ipod

:agree: Bill but lets not forget Cable I just recently fired my provider and decided to get an amplified HDTV antenna. I know I'm not going to have my favorite channels such as History Ch., CNN, National Geographic etc...

I'am just sick of this Monopoly they have and before I forget also our beloved Congress is trying to have us pay for listening to radio. I know right now there are already some broadcasters that are charging such as Satellite radio but Congress want to expand it.

Man next thing you know Congress will have us pay for every poop we do!

That is some "Duke of New York 'A' #1" rambling right there, Bill. I find myself agreeing with everything you posted too. It reminds me of the post I made on Facebook a while back about the difference in lyrics of yesteryear compared to today's claptrap.

We definitely took a wrong turn somewhere...
