Please help. RX-F2 Tape door won't stay closed after disassembly

Okay so I stayed up all night restoring and modding a Panasonic RX-F2 for bluetooth. Good news is the mod is working great! But now I feel like an idiot because after reassembly I can't figure out why the cassette door won't latch closed. I'm sure I am not missing any parts as I was careful to save everything and take lots of pics when I took it apart. I see what looks like a little release hook, but it doesn't seem to line up with the door. Am I missing something, or am I just delirious?

The first thing I would do is check the alignment of the inner chassis to the front case.
If it's off by a hair that's enough to throw it off .
also check the latch point on the deck door itself to make sure its not chipped of.

The cassette door lock mechanism can even get stuck in some cases. In addition to what Floyd mentioned, check and see how the eject button on pressing works, get a good feel of the operation, free anything that obstruct with the full movement of it. In some cases that lever can get stuck in lock position.
