Joining this forum got me thinking about an boombox that I have had for two or three years now. I found it at the tip and just had to bring it home with me.
From a bit of reading on here it seems to be a very desirable box. Its a Pioneer CK something (each section has a different serial number)
It is nearly the same as one I saw on here but the tape deck is different.
As you can see, the woofers are gone but it works with other speakers plugged in and its pretty loud. Its basically a separates system with a handle!
I always had the intention to restore it at some point when I have the time.
I haven't used it for a year or so but I remember that it had a hum from the amp. The tape deck died soon after I rescued it but I am sure that it could be sorted out quite easily.
I am now really glad that I picked it up because at the time I was very conscious of the fact that (to my girlfriends eyes) I was literally bringing home someone else's rubbish !
Anyway, how exactly does one go about fixing the woofers on something like this ?
