the problem is when i push the powerbutton there is a loud steady buzz on the speakers and on the headphones, i can hear the music but there is still this buzz
only when i play with the cassette buttons it changes a little bit, but still there, just change a little bit
anybody knows about?
otherwise everythings there she just need a overall clean up job

Love those units.

But for example the function switch is a weak point.
Have you cleaned it?
Also the other switches.

tapedrive is working?
Maybe also the recordswitch fails.
Insert a blank tape and press a few times rec and stop. :hmmm:

nothing cleaned yet, but i tested unit on d-cells and the noise is gone, but other problem occured, when i turn volume past half volume sound breaks down
then i have to push the powerbutton again and it will work fine till i turn volume past half
but im truly amazed by the sound, monster

i have an AKA with the magnavox brand -
same sweet blue woofs........

its alot darker --almost charcoal --not as pretty as your
light silver --
but --still sounds great :-)

That sounds like it could be a bad transformer, or maybe just a loose & vibrating one.

I really like the looks of that model, but I don't like how the meters don't dance to the music unless the tape motor is running. Same problem with the Telefunken Studio 1.

i now have 2 d8614's, sound quality is amazing, beautiful looker too, my all time fave box :yes:
REDBENJOE i love your grey magnavox version would love to own it :-D RELI i know you don't like the led's for signal strength on radio, but everything else makes up for it, absolute beaut ;-)

Suggests to me it could be a ground connection problem somewhere, especially if it gets quieter when you touch the cassette buttons.

May be a wire off inside, often happens of someones been inside doing some work on it and omitted to reconnect the ground connection, I know it's happened to me before I'm ashamed to say :-P :-D
