Hi Guys,

I've been meaning to get around to a simple line in mod on my RX-DT680 for months and finally got around to it this week.

As you guys would be aware, the mod instructions are available on-line. It really was a simple modification as there is plenty of room inside the DT680.

As per the on-line instructions, I used the tape player inputs. Tape player function is unaffected. You just select tape mode, plug in your MP3 player and away you go. ;-)

Apart from the wiring at the RCA inputs, only 3 wires have to be soldered and you're done. You have to be careful with your soldering though as the pads are very close together.

The tape player inputs are quite sensitive as you only need the MP3 player volume at around 2/3 rds to get full output.

Total cost of the mod was $0 as I had all of the parts required on hand from donor boxes including the RCA inputs from a JVC PC5. I JB Welded the two RCA plugs together and then after wiring up the input plugs, I then JB Welded the inputs to the Panasonic casing. You just have to use the right type of bit when drilling the rear casing as a normal drill bit will tend to smash apart the thin rear casing if your not careful.

I can thoroughly recommend this mod to RX-DT680 owners who want the convenience of a proper Line In.

I can see my DT680 getting a lot more use from now on! :-D

Nice mod! I'm to lazy though. I just stick a high density data CD in it, hit continuous, and run my line in using the CD out. :-D
