I do Civil Engineering (for my real job) directly related to Fuel Station canopies. When you go to a gas station to fill your car, look up - that's what I do. I inspect canopies for the state of WI, get involved with the hands-on fab work and stuff in the shop so I'm not sitting behind my desk all day.
So, we have jobs (canopies) that have shipped to St. Thomas, USVI as well as a 'kiosk' at a fuel station that doesn't have a store. 2 people work inside this kiosk to do money transactions with the customers buying fuel.
The kiosk is a small building 8' tall, 4' wide, 6' long. They need an addition built to one end of it to make it 9' long and give the workers more room.
Usually our install crews are sent down to build the canopies or that kiosk, but they are all so busy with local work that only the owner of 1 crew said he could go, but had no one to take with to lend a hand. I designed, wired, and did some of the fab work on the original 4'x6' kiosk and I designed all the parts for the addition.
So, I said I would go down to get the job done (we all say '"I'll go", when a St. Thomas job is ready to ship. Kind of a joke because we all know we won't be going).
Believe it or not, they set up my flight, hotel, and are paying me to go to St. Thomas to build this addition!!!!!
I'll be there June 6th - June 10th. Should only take us less than 2 full days to do the work.
So excited right now I can't even think straight!
