I don't post much at all but have been a member for a couple of years and a lurker for even longer. I've learned a lot from searches & reading posts by the guys here that have way more knowledge than I do. I'm like a lot of us and try to find boomboxes for cheaper than what i'd have to pay on ebay or collector prices. I've been lucky and found a few in pretty good shape at decent prices. I look on craigslist, offerup, letgo & facebook marketplace pretty regularly and had about given up on finding any of the really collectible boxes on those sites, at least for a decent price. Well today I got to be the lucky one & found a unicorn in the wild..lol. I was slow at work and randomly opened facebook marketplace. I didn't search for boomboxes but I guess the algorithms know previous things you search for & they randomly show up in your "top picks". I scroll down & see what looks like the model/id tag on the back of a stereo or boombox. I scrolled right past it and continued looking. As I scrolled back up, I click on it thinking it's probably a stereo receiver or something. When the listing opens up the first pic is that same pic of the tag. I first see the make which is Pioneer and then I look down & see the model which says SK-900. I about fell out of my chair. I was pretty sure that was the very sought after four speaker model so I proceeded to open the rest of the pics. Sure enough, I was correct. The pics looked like it was in great condition and the asking price.......$60! It had only been listed an hour so I immediately messaged the seller thinking I may actually be the first one to respond. She quickly responded & was the original owner! I wanted to meet right then before someone got it before me or offered her more. She couldn't meet until after work and I was nervous all day somebody was going to buy it out from under me. The end of the day came and I breathed a big sigh of relief when I messaged to let her know I was on the way and she confirmed. When we met she said she couldn't believe how many responses she got and that one guy even offered her $75...lol.... but I was the first to respond and she stuck to her word so I got it. Here it is in it's uncleaned glory along with the original owner's manual. Yes!!!

This was a great story. You must be quick to win...

I think it was more luck than anything.

What a score, bet that felt amazing to get it in your hands!

Yes it did. I was nervous all day that somebody would offer her a couple hundred dollars or more and buy it out from under me. It's pretty minty so it's one of my best finds. Finding one like this is such a high and what keeps me looking.

I agree, beautiful box and sounds awesome! I've never even seen one for sale over the last couple of years other than through japan yahoo and/or with a ridiculous price. I was honest with her about it being collectible but she listed it for $60 so that's what I gave her. We both left happy and that's all the matters. Though I will say I was probably a little more giddy...lol.

I love to see this happen , a bad ass boombox for an affordable price. And a seller with decency.

one of the main problems these boxes get into the hands of collectors and then they want double the price...then ebay follows suit

i agree with you Floyd seeing someone get a good deal is rather refreshing, rock on :beer2:

My RCM70 and big Panasonic were similar finds.. Just looking at some awful, dark, nearly unreadable pictures in an online sale and thinking "Iiiiii, need to go buy this now" .. This hobby still flies under the radar for many folks, so the deals are out there. Nice score.
