a week ago --this 80 PLUS year old timer
stumbles into our woodshop --
i knew he had been shop member for about 15 years -
but never had seen any of his work --
in fact --he was mostly there as a helper // observer and a clean-up guy-
he asked me to help show how to change the blades on our scroll saw --
he had a new pack of the skinniest blades ever made -
round profile with only a 1/16" diameter -
and with tiny tiny mini cutting teeth in every direction ---
i set the blade in for him --
and told him to be very careful --
especially --that his glasses were about 1/2" thick -
and didnt seem to be able to see much of anything
here is the scroller
-----------------------
well --he is in there --very quietly working every day - for HOURS -
i knew he could not see the brackets to change his blade -
so i expected to be helping him every few hours -
as all skinny blades --cutting thick wood -- want to break --fast !!
instead --
he never asked for any help -
i was busy constructing my beach chair.
and paid no attention to his progress --
other that to see that he wasnt BLEEDING !!!
----------------------------
turns out --he used the same blade all week --!!!
and his piece looked like it was done by a computer controlled laser cutter
--------------------
oh --and here is my completed chair -
which is off by 2/3" in EVERY possible dimension

Crap....I guess he could see huh?

He must have been a surgeon when he was younger to have hands that steady.
